Before I came to the University of Wisconsin-Madison, I didn't know about the food culture at all and it wasn't my first priority when coming onto campus (I needed to make friends first lol...). Freshman and Sophomore year I didn't explore much into it either because I either had campus cash for the dorm food or I had a chef in the sorority house. But then came Junior and Senior year when I had to live on my own (grown up problems) and cook for myself or eat out. And these past two years are when I really got to enjoy the food culture of Wisconsin and specifically Madison. I'm lucky I came to this city when I did because the food culture has evolved so quickly these past couple of years. It started with lots of chains, diners, supper clubs and your average food joints. But now, it has emerged into something greater- it is a city filled with farm-to-table restaurants, healthy and organic cafes, 20+ food trucks, and so much more. I've explored a lot of the new places and dragged my friends along with me, and I've come up with a list (in no particular order) of the best of the best here in Madison... Ha Long Bay Chicken Pad Thai Grampa's Pizzeria Brassacre Pizza Fromagination Signature Sandwich Gotham Bagels Yellow C.A.B bagel Slow Food UW Family Night Dinner It's every Monday night during the school year for $5. Menu changes weekly based on what they get at the farmers market! Good Food food truck Signature Sweet Potato Salad Forage Kitchen Kale, Apple, Cucumber, Lemon Juice Madison Sourdough Potato Hash and Eggs Benedict And last but most definitely not least, ALL THE CHEESE CURDS!!!
